Champions' League Best By-the-Glass Wine List 2021

Park Hotel, Vossevangen, Norway

Situated on the banks of Lake Vangsvatnet in the centre of Voss, Norway, Park Hotel Vossevangen enjoys magnificent views of the surrounding nature. The menu of the hotel’s Elysée restaurant changes frequently according to the seasons and the availability of local produce, featuring local Norwegian delicacies as well as international dishes. Jan-Bruse Andersen carved out the legendary cellar over 30 years ago. Today his tradition is carried on by Francesco Marzola, the hotel’s wine director and the cellar is filled with over 42,000 wines from all over the world with approximately 5,300 labels. This means that the wine is drunk at the optimal point.

Pix Pâtisserie, Portland

Pix Pâtisserie is a little window to Europe that landed in Portland, Oregon in 2001 offering a casual dining space with a focus on French desserts. Bar Vivant shares the same space and brings a savory side in the form of Spanish pintxos, as well as a selection of some of the best conservas from Spain. Pix Pâtisserie / Bar Vivant offers a wine list with a focus on small producers that push the boundaries to make exciting and exceptional wine. Over the past couple of years Pix Pâtisserie / Bar Vivant has acquired many single vineyard champagnes. These wines offer a unique experience to taste the different terroirs in the champagne region, which in the past were almost always blended away. The wine list showcases about 1,500 selections, including over 750 champagnes in formats ranging from demi bottles to methuselahs, a remarkable range of over 190 sherries and a notable collection of dessert wines, including madeiras dating back to 1907. Their approach is always to create a list that is accessible and affordable, with the aim that customers can enjoy a great glass and have an opportunity to try something new and unique to them, all while staying in their price range, whatever it may be. Plus, full disclosure, with disgorgement dates on champagnes and bottling dates on sherries, ports and madeiras is offered where possible. As a previous winner of Wine List of the Year, Pix Pâtisserie competes in the Champions’ League.

Robuchon au Dôme, Grand Lisboa Hotel, Macau

Eleven Madison Park is a fine dining restaurant located in the heart of New York City. The restaurant overlooks one of the most beautiful parks in Manhattan, Madison Square Park, and sits at the base of a historic Art Deco building on the corner of 24th Street and Madison Avenue. Owner/ Chef Cheryl Wakerhauser travels often to France and Spain to better understand the atmosphere, culture, flavours and techniques associated with French pastry, Spanish tapas and the tasty beverages that accompany these dishes. Today, the restaurant offers an eight to ten course menu in the main dining room, but guests can also visit the bar for a more abbreviated tasting menu, some light snacks, or simply for a cocktail or glass of wine.
