Tasca d'Almerita – Capofaro Estate - Global Winner 2022
| Immersed within Malvasia vineyards and surrounded by blue seas, rests Capofaro Locanda & Malvasia, a spectacular estate in the UNESCO World Heritage Site Aeolian Islands. The owners and caretakers of the land, Conti Tasca d’Almerita, are an aristocratic family and well-known Sicilian wine producers for eight generations. They imbued Capofaro with their unwavering passion for wine making, excellent food, and breath-taking landscapes, all-encompassed by their flair for genuine hospitality. Capofaro’s 27 rooms and suites, with their bright architecture and minimal design, are the expression of the Aeolian architectural style: whitewashed surfaces, white columns and shadowy patios overlooking the placid expanse of the Mediterranean Sea. One of the distinctive features is the still operational historical lighthouse, with its reassuring beam of light brightening the path that winds through the estate. Guests can stay in one of the six beautifully appointed rooms of what used to be the guardian’s lodgings, acquired and restored in 2017. The core of the property is the pool and its solarium terrace framed by vineyards. Not far lies our garden spa. Sport lovers can enjoy a game of padel tennis, while yoga and meditation classes are daily held. In our Restaurant guests can treat themselves exploring our Chef Gabriele’s cuisine, a combination of traditions of the ‘monsù’ – cooks of the Sicilian aristocratic houses – and farmers’ knowledge. Following a ‘zero kilometre’ approach, our organic garden provides 70% of the ingredients used by our kitchen brigade. The Winebar showcases, among the others, all the wines produced by Tasca d’Almerita in their five estates across Sicily and offers an enhanced wine programme of pairings and tastings. At Capofaro we make our Malvasia delle Lipari in two varietals: the dry ‘Didyme’ and ‘Vigna di Paola’, and the sweet ‘Capofaro’. Capofaro is a member of Relais & Châteaux since 2017. |
