Best Airline Wine List

2020 winner

International travel can be the highlight of the year or a business requirement, but whatever the reason for travel, the journey itself can generate a sense of well-being and even indulgence, depending on the quality of the food and drink on offer. Airline travel creates many challenges for wine storage and service, so the airlines that provide a high-quality wine experience are to be congratulated. The Best Airline Wine List category enables Judges to highlight the most outstanding wine lists of airlines large and small. Even more than for earth-bound restaurants, the pairing of the food and the wine is important, due to the inevitably smaller range of both, while the effects of altitude on the perception of wine make some styles more suitable than others.

Air France

Air France offers customers seamless and convenient connections to many destinations worldwide via its hub Paris-Charles de Gaulle Airport. The prestigious wine and champagne list has been created with great care by Paolo Basso, named the world’s best sommelier in 2013, and by wine experts Bettane and Desseauve, authors of Le Grand Guide des vins de France (Bettane and Desseauve’s Guide to Wines of France). In 2019 Air France launched the Air France Wine Cellar. Through a personal ordering service, customers and enthusiasts have the opportunity to prolong the pleasure of enjoying the best wines and Champagnes served on board its flights and in its lounges. Air France retains its distinction as the World’s Best Airline Wine List.
