Apicius
Tokyo’s restaurant Apicius is named in honour of an ancient Roman chef, Markus Gavius Apicius, author of one of the earliest cook books and the man said to have discovered foie gras. The restaurant was founded nearly four decades ago and it continues to serve traditional French cuisine, with a similarly traditional European décor of wood panelled and mirrored walls. Restaurant Apicius’ cellar boasts a colossal collection of some 5,000 labels and 30,000 bottles. The unfailingly diligent sommelier team are at the guests' disposal for bespoke tasting and pairing advice.
