Wine bars around the world are a precious part of today’s wine culture, even if it is hard to reach a hard and fast definition, and even if the boundaries between bars and restaurants may often be blurred. The World’s Best Wine Lists adopts as a working definition of wine bar an establishment where it is possible and usual to order only a glass or two of wine, and where the focus is squarely on the wine list, even if it will always be possible to have complementary food of some kind. With wine bars increasingly doubling as retail outlets, their lists are perhaps shaped by the preferences of their customers to an even greater extent than are those of hotels and restaurants. As with the generally larger restaurant settings, these lists are assessed by the same criteria of breadth, depth, height, balance, selection, accuracy, originality, suitability, design, and value.

Chinois, Shibuya is located in the Shibuya-ku district of Tokyo. The restaurant name is derived from the oriental art style of Chinoiserie, which has been popular in Europe since the 17th century. The restaurant is decorated in this nostalgic style, with folding screens, hanging lanterns, brewery doors and columns, and Rene Lalique pendent lights. This creates a calm Shinova-like atmosphere in which guests can enjoy the dishes made with seasonal ingredients, carefully paired with selected wines. Middle East & Africa
Brut's cuisine is inspired by Yair and Omer's shared love of the classic French and Italian kitchens, while remaining steadfastly rooted in local Middle Eastern tradition. Brut utilizes ingredients which grow and flourish in the levant, such as lamb & yogurt from Nazareth, fruit, and vegetables from Hebron, spices from Tel Aviv's Levinsky Market, and fish from the Mediterranean. The menu features a stable of classics alongside an ever-shifting selection of seasonal dishes, often invented the very same day they're served. Brut's extensive wine list was crafted in similar fashion: it is at once a love letter to all things French and Italian, while also championing Israel's emerging winemakers. Yair and Omer import distinctive European wines from small-scale producers in Bourgogne and Piedmont, and work with Israeli wineries on blends that are grown and bottled exclusively for Brut. Brut is an ongoing celebration and examination of local terroir. This doesn't just mean the physical land and its raw materials, but also the culture, communities and yes, even the conflict, that has informed the land's very character".
