It is not possible to put a price on the joy of visiting some of the best restaurants and bars in the world, whether they are large or small, city centre or local neighbourhood establishments. However it is possible to make some assessment of the value for money represented in different wine lists. The Judges of the World’s Best Wine Lists have decided that, in order to extend the joy of exploring wine lists to all comers, it would be fair to establish a category for the Best Value Wine List. The sommeliers compiling these lists are having to juggle a range of considerations that impact on value and it is not always straightforward. The Judges continued to bear in mind the other criteria of breadth, depth, height, balance, selection, accuracy, originality, suitability, and design, while assessing for value.
Best Value Wine List in the World
The Turtle Enoteca LTD - Global Winner 2022
At the Turtle they cherish delicious food and good conversation; their key ingredients to happiness. Woven into their ethos is a desire for good wines that echo it’s terroir to share with their guests. We look for a high ratio of quality to a good price for our customers which means we tend to focus on lesser known grapes and regions which are under appreciated by the general public. The list evolves along with our available suppliers. Situated in the city of Brownwood, Texas, the Turtle Restaurant is owned by the multi-faceted Mary Stanley and architect David Stanley. The menu is scratch made and seasonal. They recently purchased a Kosei yakitori grill from Japan. At present the Turtle is moving into pan world street food in response to the ever increasing price of proteins. While they still serve a Delmonico style ribeye steak, and signature Pecan Bayou chicken breast, you will find authentic empanadas, potstickers, pastas, and various preparations of pan world “meat on a stick.” |
