The juxtaposition found within Grill Americano is unique. While embracing the New World approach of Melbourne’s culinary district, the sophisticated dining room boasts an Old World feel, tapping into the timeless buzz of the Big Apple’s great restaurants.
Bold, plush and refined, Grill Americano is restaurateur Chris Lucas’ love letter to New York City, classic old-school dining and Venetian cuisine.
The menu marries the best of Italian flavour and technique: parmesan cacio e pepe polenta with spicy aioli; hand-made linguine aglio e olio with spanner crab; and pockets of tortellini cradling fresh lobster and saffron.
Driving the menu is the flair and spark of an open kitchen with a hand-built wood oven and Josper Grill cooking some of the very best Australian beef and seafood.
A stately piece of marble forms the long bar, where guests enjoy a pre-dinner cocktail before they’re shown their table by waiters in crisp white jackets. The sumptuous room is dressed in royal blue banquettes and studded leather chairs you’ll want to lose time in.
The cellar carries 2000+ bottles, spanning classic producers and regions, and international cult favourites. While the Italian selection specifically has extraordinary breadth and depth, the remainder of this much-lauded wine programme proves as impressive, dedicated to highlighting the very best international wines.
Focused on exploring the dichotomy between Old World and New World, this is an ever-evolving wine list, complete with feature pages spotlighting true icons of Italian and Burgundian wine.
There’s an extensive curation of vintage amaro and other Italian after-dinner digestifs, while a growing collection of low ABV and non-alcoholic beverages seeks to offer as premium an experience for the non-drinker as for any other guest.
Each element of Grill Americano is a thoughtful gesture, designed to create a luxurious dining experience for every guest, every time.
